Nutritious Snacks

Tuesday, 12 August 2008

It might seem like something of an oxymoron, especially to the cynics among us, but it is possible for snacks to be nutritious. I suppose it depends on your definition of "snack". In the eyes of many a snack is inherently associated with something unhealthy; a sugar-loaded candy bar, a packet of crisps or a couple of biscuits consumed specifically for one of several reasons:

a) to stave off hunger until meal time.
b) to provide a sugar/energy boost during activity.
c) to give us a mental high during a time of low stimulation.
d) simply out of boredom.
e) for the enjoyment of its taste or texture.

So it's pretty easy to see why we tend to choose the less than nutritious snacks when it comes down to it. It's only my guess, but I'd suggest that most snacks are eaten for the latter two reasons (d and e), even if we might pretend that we *need* the sustenance in order to make through the afternoon comfortably, the truth is probably that we just crave the taste.

The problem for those people actively involved with weight management lays in finding a way to indulge in nutritious snacks. If I was to ask you to provide me with an example of a nutritious snack I imagine you'd say things like an apple or banana, or some might say rye-based crackers and unfortunately the taste perception of these options doesn't tend to excite us.

The solution is nutritious snacks such as those in our catalogue. If we can sate our lust for something tasty whilst not consuming the calories then it's mission accomplished! Why not check out some of the Herbal Life Products on our catalogue pages and take control of your life again!
